Alaska (Is This True?)- When the Alaska Board of Fisheries and North Pacific Fishery Management Council went to open their Bering Sea fishery, they found that there were no crabs to be found. Over a billion had vanished. With that discovery, they decided to not allow a harvest this crabbing season.

“Frankly, we blame the disappearance on the high proliferation of crab house restaurants. Especially in Florida and Georgia.” Gerald Johnson, spokesman for the council stated. “We understand the demand for garlic snow crabs platters, but dammit we can’t keep up. If there wasn’t a Crusty Crab House, King Crab House, JC’s, Zebo’s, or Juicy Crab on every corner, we could supply the whole country. And don’t get me started on the Koreans opening their seafood spots right next door to them either.”

This new development means higher snow crab prices and a surplus of garlic butter sauce.
